The Five Pillars of Islam
The Testimony
On the authority
of Ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) who reported that the Messenger of
Allah (may peace be upon him) said: "Islam is based on five (pillars):
testifying that there is no true god except Allah and that Muhammad (may peace
be upon him) is His slave and Messenger; performing of prayer (Iqamat - as -
Salat); the payment of Zakah; performing Hajj (pilgrimage) to the House [of
Allah (Ka`bah)]; and fasting during the month of Ramadan."
